Marine Services

Technical Specifications Definition & Review

Noise and Vibration specifications are not one size fits all. Use J&A’s experience to make sure a project’s goals align with the size, speed, operational profile, and budget. Routine noise levels on a 300’ displacement vessel may be impossible to achieve on a 70’ high speed craft. A successful project starts when expectations of designers, builders, and customers are aligned.
Analysis & Prediction

J&A utilizes a wide range of analysis and prediction methods from advanced FEA, SEA, signal processing, and modal analysis to handbook and back of the envelope calculations. All of our methods are backed by years of validation in the field. J&A Engineers take pride in adapting to the conditions on board and providing accurate, timely and efficient analysis to our clients. We have deep expertise in machinery isolation and shaft dynamics including complicated combined 6-degree of freedom (6DOF), lateral (whirling) and axial vibration calculations. J&A can provide Classification Society approved calculations.
Project Oversight

Correct installation and treatment details are critical to effective noise and vibration isolation. J&A routinely conducts site visits and inspections during vessel construction to offer guidance and training to designers, fabricators, and installers. These visits catch problems early in construction, before they expand into costly rework.
Certified Testing

J&A is a widely recognized authority on noise and vibration testing and compliance. J&A maintains a large inventory of calibrated precision test equipment and is an ABS Recognized Service Supplier. We have experience testing to a wide variety of US and international standards including ABS HAB, IMO MLC, Lloyds, RINA, DNV-GL, ISO, EU CE, MIL-STD-740-2, MIL-STD-1474E. J&A’s deep technical expertise allows us to resolve many testing and compliance issues in the field, saving builders, owners, and operators time and money.
Diagnostic Seatrials

Get the experts onboard. J&A solves noise and vibration problems. Whether something is shaking, cracking, or just plain annoying, we can identify the source and use our years of experience and engineering expertise to recommend practical and effective solutions. We also provide pre- and post-refit and/or sale surveys to protect owners and yards from costly disputes and unmet expectations.

First and foremost J&A engineers are experts in noise and vibration. All of our senior staff are Institute of Noise Control Engineering Board Certified (INCE Bd. Cert.). We regularly bring our expertise to community, industrial, and product noise assessment and abatement.
